The Ultimate Blog Party 2011

Ultimate Blog Party 2011

To my regular readers – it’s time once again to spruce things up and roll out the red carpet for guests! I’m participating in the The Ultimate Blog Hop this week which is a great opportunity to meet other bloggers.  Don’t you just love a party?! And yes – there is chocolate involved!

Welcome to Blue Jeans and Cotton Tees!

Hey everybody! Come on in! My name is Melinda.

Jan, my husband of 20 years, and I live on our homestead in the middle of Amish country with our 5 kids , an assortment of critters, and a huge garden.

We moved here from the big city almost 13 years ago.

The last 10 years we’ve spent slowly renovating my dream house – a big old 1920 farmhouse that we moved on to the land.

I love old wood, thrift stores and sappy Christmas movies.

I also love dates with my husband, long walks, and cookbooks.

And I really, really love chocolate!

I don’t like critters in my garden, snow in March, and heights of any kind.

Oh – and too many numbers can make me hyperventilate.

VeduvooI’ve discovered that life is never dull with teenagers in the house and that moms tend to get a little sentimental when they face their first graduation!

We like adventures, making memories, and  family jokes.

Oh – and company – we like company – which is good since we have lots of it!

I love recipes and experimenting in the kitchen – especially with chocolate.

By the way – did I mention that I like chocolate? 🙂

I blog about life.

Sometimes I’m serious, sometimes I’m funny, sometimes I’m just plain silly.

But I always try to stay real.

Thanks for stopping by and come back soon!

  3. Hi! Stopping in from the Party!

Except for the teenagers, I think we are pretty similar….I would love to live in a 1920s farmhouse! And in Amish country to boot. Trying hard not to be jealous…(we’re saving to move to the country but it is going to be several years yet.)

    It was nice meeting you!

  4. I think I “met” you last year at the blog part. Right now with moving, having a baby, etc, I don’t know that I’ll be part of the party. And I’m kind of bummed about it!

  8. I enjoy hearing about life in the country. We live in a rural section of NJ and are hoping to buy a small farm within the next few years so we can more our teens horses there. We live a simple life compared to our neighbors. Our teens are involved with horses which takes up most of their free time.

I love chocolate and have to get a recipe for chocolate peanut butter balls posted in my blog. I will let you know when I do. They are awesome! It’s a crazy weekend though. Maybe tonight when the kids are watching a DVD.

  20. Don’t like heights, huh? You couldn’t tell by the that boulder your on top of.

A huge garden? I may be picking your brain. I have only been gardening a few years now, and I love it. But, I know there is so much I can still learn.

I enjoyed stopping by your site. Cannot wait to read more.

  22. Hi, Melinda!
I’m having so much fun meeting people at this party! I, too, am a mama of five, the youngest one being seven weeks old. It’s my dream to live in a wonderful farmhouse in rural America, but we’ll see if that’s what God has in store for us.

I’m your newest follower, partly because I think I might just learn something poking around your blog and partly because I love chocolate, too!

Thank you for visiting my blog (Sunflower Schoolhouse) during the Ultimate Blog Party. Your farmhouse would be my dream house too, but we are stuck in the city in a townhouse in a loud neighbourhood.

    Blessings
