Girl’s Time and a Stop at Sweet Binney’s

I had a lovely adventure the other day. My three sisters and I took our mom out for lunch to celebrate her birthday and then to the mall for some serious shopping. Well, maybe the shopping wasn’t so serious! We got pretty silly at times. (Did you know that the only exercise your liver gets is when you laugh?) But I digress…back to the lovely adventure…

As we left the mall, one of my sister’s mentioned that her daughter, my lovely, sweet and wonderful niece, was working that afternoon at Sweet Binney’s, a locally owned dessert shop that just happened to be right on the way home. We, of course, decided that a stop would be just the thing to cap off our afternoon.

My niece spotted us as we entered and came out from the back room where she had just finished whipping up some chocolate hazelnut mousse. When she saw all five of us salivating, she provided a sample for each of us. Glory! That was good stuff! I could have eaten a tub of it. (I’m serious here, that was just about chocolate perfection on a spoon!)

That was followed by small samples of chocolate cake and gingerbread, both moist and rich
and delicious.

She then proceeded to patiently explain everything in the display case and helped each of us pick out the perfect dessert to satisfy our taste buds. The decisions were hard because the chocolate choices all looked wonderful. (You knew of course that I would have to choose something chocolate! But it is interesting to note that all of my sisters and my mom also made chocolate choices. It must be heredity…)

I had the Double Chocolate Truffle Torte (yum! just writing it makes me hungry!) and my oldest sister and my Mom enjoyed the Flourless Chocolate Espresso Torte, while another sister had a delicious individual dessert filled with the wonderful chocolate mousse.

We had a great time sampling each other’s desserts and enjoying the gourmet coffee and root beer.

It was my first time at Sweet Binney’s, but I’m sure it won’t be my last! The chocolate was luscious, the atmosphere fun, and the service was excellent.

What a great way to end an afternoon with the girls!
